Basketball Recap: Surry Homeschool's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Surry HomeSchool's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over the South Charlotte Thunder. The win was some much needed relief for the Runnin' Patriots as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

South Charlotte's loss came despite strong showings from Mya Aitchison and Bella Aitchison. Mya dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Bella posted six points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Mya a new career-high in blocks (three).

Surry HomeSchool's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for South Charlotte, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season.

Surry HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-43 loss against Phoenix Academy on the 21st. South Charlotte has also already played their next matchup, a 59-10 defeat against Covenant Day on the 18th.
