Basketball Recap: Eastlake Victorious

It was a Battle of the Birds when Eastlake faced off against Coronado on Tuesday. The Eastlake Falcons managed a 51-46 victory over the Coronado Thunderbirds. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Eastlake found their leader in sophomore Diego Diaz, who posted 18 points. Diaz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braeden Quigley, who put up seven points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Cason Golding, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 27 points and six boards. Those 27 points gave Golding a new career-high. Andre Martinez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Eastlake's victory bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.

Eastlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 31-30 defeat against Montwood on the 7th. As for Coronado, they have also already played their next match, a 41-37 loss against Franklin on the 7th.
