Baseball Recap: Fenton Takes a Loss

Fenton had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-21 to make it nine. They lost 11-1 to the Elmwood Park Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Monday.

As for Elmwood Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Elmwood Park's part, Waijdy El Halabi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. El Halabi also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Elmwood Park is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. El Halabi was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Elmwood Park let Leon Solarczyk and Anthony Huaman run wild. Solarczyk went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Huaman went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Solarczyk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Salvatore Labarbera, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fenton will challenge Aurora East at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tomcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elmwood Park, they will take on Bartlett at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
