Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Charlene Archuleta and Bella Gallegos Lead Mesa Vista to Victory

There's no place like home for Mesa Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Penasco Panthers 3-0 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Mesa Vista never let Penasco on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-15.

Leading Mesa Vista to victory were Bella Gallegos and Charlene Archuleta. Gallegos had 12 digs, while Archuleta had seven digs and four aces. Archuleta has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Mesa Vista was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Mesa Vista's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. As for Penasco, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
