Softball Game Preview: Leakey Eagles vs. Knippa Crushers

For the second straight game, Leakey will face off against Knippa. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Crushers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Leakey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Leakey took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Knippa get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kourtney Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sherilyn Gibeaut, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hayden Rimkus was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Leakey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Leakey has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Knippa, their loss was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18-1.
