Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Breck). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mounds Park Academy Panthers a 24-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on four straight.

Alex Averbook and Ray Della Lana were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Averbook tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Della Lana pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Averbook posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Averbook got on base in two of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Della Lana got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. Averbook is becoming a predictor of Breck's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Garret Trench was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Colin Mitchell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Breck's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mounds Park Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Breck will square off against St. Paul Academy-Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mounds Park Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against St. Agnes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
