Basketball Recap: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. Suncoast Chargers
Benjamin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Suncoast Chargers by a score of 43-40 on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Benjamin's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinzie Bunting, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Bunting is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed six or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Smith, who had four points along with 13 boards and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Suncoast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kalle Lamont, who put up eight points and 14 rebounds. Trejor Street was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.
Looking ahead, Benjamin will be playing in front of their home fans against Jupiter Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Buccaneers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Suncoast, they will head out to face off against Oxbridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
