Baseball Recap: Hudson Catholic Comes Up Short

Hudson Catholic extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the Union City Soaring Eagles, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Soaring Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-2 loss on Thursday.

Hudson Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Hennessy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Jayden Caddle also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Union City, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

On Union City's side, Miguel Fillion tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Jayden Perez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddy Fernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Hudson Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Ferris at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Union City has already played their next contest (against Teaneck), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
