Baseball Recap: Girard Takes a Loss

Girard was the 14-3 winner over Saegertown when they last played one another back in May of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Yellowjackets fell 8-5 to the Panthers on Thursday. While the Yellowjackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 4-0 in the first period.

Joe Ferretti and Zak Balogh stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ferretti went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Balogh got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Another player making a difference was James Kibbe, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Girard dropped their record down to 11-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Saegertown, their record is now 14-2.

Looking ahead, Girard will square off against Conneaut at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. Saegertown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
