Erickson recap Oct. 9, 2012

Avon Old Farms moved up to 34 from 81 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Erickson. A 39-34 win over the Beavers helped the Beavers improve their standing.

Trinity-Pawling suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after beating Berkshire School. The Pride had been ranked 20th, but fell to 132 following the defeat.

Taft's dynamic duo of Tim Drakeley and Alex Huard proved tough for Avon Old Farms to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Drakeley threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns and Huard had 199 yards receiving. David Berment helped Taft's passing attack out by catching six balls for 56 yards.

Shawahl Abdur-Rahman was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 108 yards as Salisbury School topped Kevin Driscoll's team. Leon Cummings also contributed to the rushing game with 90 yards on the ground.

Taft's Drakeley and Berment have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Drakeley has thrown for 750 yards this season, while Berment, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 22 catches for 400 yards. Cummings from the Crimson Knights leads the league in rushing with 318 yards.

A big matchup in Erickson this week will be when Trinity-Pawling takes on Hotchkiss. As it stands, David Coratti's team is in fourth, while the Bearcats are in fifth.

The Pride took down the Bears 37-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
