Softball Game Preview: Seacrest Country Day Stingrays vs. Mason Classical Academy Paladins

The Seacrest Country Day Stingrays will square off against the Mason Classical Academy Paladins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seacrest Country Day is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

If Seacrest Country Day beats Mason Classical Academy with 12 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Stingrays put the hurt on Everglades City with a sharp 12-6 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stingrays.

Caroline Porter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolie Booth, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Magee-Fullam, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Seacrest Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Mason Classical Academy came up short against Babcock on Tuesday and fell 6-3.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Mason Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Seacrest Country Day came out on top in a nail-biter against Mason Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Stingrays repeat their success, or do the Paladins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
