Football Recap: Jagger Nieves Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Summit Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but San Juan had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 51-27 margin over the Summit Academy Bears. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won eight in a row.

San Juan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jagger Nieves out in front who rushed for 28 yards and four scores, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. Nieves continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Beau Yeomans was another key passer, throwing for 341 yards and one TD.

San Juan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brigg Palmer, Cole Duke, and Nache Young picked up one apiece. Duke got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

San Juan's record is now 10-2. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Coming up, San Juan will take on South Summit at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Broncos will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. Summit Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
