Basketball Game Preview: Marshfield Rams vs. Whitman-Hanson Regional Panthers

Marshfield is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Whitman-Hanson Regional is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Marshfield Rams will welcome the Whitman-Hanson Regional Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Marshfield took their match with ease, bagging a 77-45 victory over Plymouth North. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Eagles are ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Whitman-Hanson Regional won against Plymouth South on Friday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Whitman-Hanson Regional put the hurt on Duxbury with a sharp 61-40 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Dragons since January 11, 2022.

Whitman-Hanson Regional's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Marshfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Marshfield beat Whitman-Hanson Regional 63-50 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Marshfield repeat their success, or does Whitman-Hanson Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
