Volleyball Recap: Lily Francis and Kourtney Phlipot Secure Win for Russia

Russia's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Houston Wildcats 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 4th.

While Russia won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-11, 25-23.

Leading Russia to victory were Kourtney Phlipot and Lily Francis. Phlipot had nine digs and two aces, while Francis had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Francis has posted over her last four contests.

Russia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Houston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Russia will challenge Botkins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Houston, they will face off against Franklin Monroe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
