Basketball Recap: Collins Hill Comes Up Short

Collins Hill blew Mill Creek out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Mill Creek got their revenge. The Collins Hill Eagles fell just short of the Mill Creek Hawks by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since November 23, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Collins Hill saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sa'Nya Jones went 6 for 12 to rack up 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Jones has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Heywood, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Collins Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Collins Hill now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Mill Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Coming up, Collins Hill will host Central Gwinnett at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
