Basketball Game Preview: Williamstown Blue Devils vs. Oxbow Olympians

Williamstown has gone a perfect 9-0 against Oxbow recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Williamstown Blue Devils will face off against the Oxbow Olympians at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Williamstown's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Williamstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Richford, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Williamstown was ranked 18th). Williamstown fell to Richford 65-60. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but the Blue Devils couldn't quite close it out.

Despite their loss, Williamstown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nick Mascitti, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Mascitti is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Evan Bailey was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Oxbow played in conference for the first time on Wednesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 victory over Northfield.

Williamstown's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Oxbow, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Everything went Williamstown's way against Oxbow when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Williamstown made off with a 72-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamstown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
