Baseball Recap: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans vs. Fountain Hills Falcons
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it six. They lost 11-1 to the Fountain Hills Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 on April 4th.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Holwerda, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. That stolen base was Holwerda's first of the season.
As for Fountain Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
On Fountain Hills' side, Kainoa Brilhante made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lucas Grieco was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
