Football Game Preview: Newton Cardinals vs. Pella Dutch

The Newton Cardinals will venture away from home to square off against the Pella Dutch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Pella will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Newton extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Cardinals claimed a resounding 45-7 win over Oskaloosa. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Indians are ranked 212th).

Meanwhile, Pella got themselves on the board against Marion on Friday, but Marion never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wolves 48-0. The game marked the Dutch's most dominant victory of the season so far.

Newton's record is now 4-1. As for Pella, their record now sits at 5-0.

Newton came up short against Pella when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 35-28. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
