Football Recap: Carver Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Carver had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 12-7 victory over Southwest DeKalb on Friday. Given Carver's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Southwest DeKalb is ranked 212th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carver found their leader in sophomore Michael Johnson Jr., who forced one fumble and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Looking ahead, Carver is taking a road trip to face off against Luella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chamblee at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th.
