Football Recap: Erie Starts Season with Win Against Brighton

Erie gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Brighton Bulldogs 67-17. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 69th).

Erie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Steven Staff, Wyatt Walston, and Braylon Toliver picked up one apiece. Toliver got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Brighton took the loss, they still got scores from Dalton Walker and Ryan Wadsworth.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erie will square off against Ralston Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brighton, they will challenge Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
