Softball Recap: Alvarado Indians vs. Blum Bobcats
There's no place like home for Alvarado, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Blum Bobcats on Tuesday.
Hayden Blair was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Blair wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xitlilac Tapia, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Tapia's hit this season. Addie Hayes was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Alvarado's win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Coming up, Alvarado will take on Graford in a tournament on Friday. As for Blum, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats duke it out with the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Blum has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
