It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Ashbrook ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 36-29 win over the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. The Greenwave's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ashbrook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savion Lindsay led the charge by rushing for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one score. Lindsay is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Aj McClain, who rushed for 39 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ashbrook was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Ashbrook didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bishop Woods, Quamell Scott, and Keenan Early picked up one apiece. Ashbrook got some further help from Caleb Gordon: he picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles.

Despite the loss, Marvin Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jake Robbins, who rushed for 85 yards and three scores. Robbins also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass.

Ashbrook's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Marvin Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Ashbrook and Marvin Ridge will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Greenwave will challenge rival South Point at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge is set to square off against their familiar foe Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
