Basketball Recap: Hoggard Piles Up the Points Against West Carteret

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hoggard). They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 71-12 win over the West Carteret Patriots. With the Vikings ahead 34-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Tristan Shivers was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. Riley Sullivan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Hoggard was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

The victory keeps Hoggard at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.8 points on average this season. As for West Carteret, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoggard will take on Overhills at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Carteret, they will welcome Farmville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
