Basketball Recap: Daveigha Heikes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Cecilia

Northwest lost to St. Cecilia back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Northwest Vikings skirted past the St. Cecilia Bluehawks 30-27.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daveigha Heikes, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Heikes a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laiken Dorsey, who put up seven points and three steals.

Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for St. Cecilia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Northwest has already played their next matchup, a 56-24 victory against Adams Central on the 17th. As for St. Cecilia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-32 defeat against Minden on the 16th.
