Baseball Recap: Spencer's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Spencer had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Gilman Pirates by a score of 4-1. The game was the first time the Rockets have beaten the Pirates on their field since April 26, 2019.

Carter Luepke was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

As for Gilman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Spencer since on Thursday.

On Gilman's side, Dawson Grunseth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

As of now, neither Spencer nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
