Softball Recap: Northpoint Christian Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

University School of Jackson typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Northpoint Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 7-4. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Bruins on Monday, they had to take a 8-1 defeat.

Ada Woodruff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Beth Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Hannah Bostain was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Northpoint Christian's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for University School of Jackson, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7-1.

Northpoint Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bruins: the pair will be back at it again later today.
