Preview: South San Francisco Warriors vs. Monta Vista Matadors
The South San Francisco Warriors will be playing at home against the Monta Vista Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South San Francisco will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, South San Francisco strolled past Cupertino with points to spare, taking the game 25-6.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South San Francisco to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Fields, who rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Fields was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Marcus Mercurio, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Monta Vista brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past Lynbrook 44-6 on the road. With Monta Vista ahead 23-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was Rohit Pamidi, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 33 yards and a touchdown.
Monta Vista's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Justin Chaahoub and his three sacks.
Their wins bumped South San Francisco to 7-1 and Monta Vista to 3-5.
South San Francisco beat Monta Vista 22-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will South San Francisco repeat their success, or does Monta Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
