Baseball Preview: Dakota Ridge Eagles vs. Columbine Rebels

Dakota Ridge is 10-0 against Columbine since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Dakota Ridge Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Columbine Rebels at 4:00 p.m. Dakota Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Dakota Ridge earned an 8-5 victory over Bear Creek. The win made it back-to-back victories for Dakota Ridge.

Dakota Ridge got a great performance from Braden Johnson as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Hayden Friesen was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carson Sauter, who scored a run and stole a base.

Meanwhile, Columbine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arvada West.

Jack Snyder made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a home run, a stolen base, and two RBI. James Salazar was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Dakota Ridge's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Columbine, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Dakota Ridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game.
