Football Recap: Daphne Starts Season with Victory Against Saraland

Daphne gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Saraland Spartans as they made off with a 36-13 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Trojans just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of Daphne's victory came down to the chemistry between Aubrey Gregg and her top target Abby Johnson. Gregg threw for 175 yards and four TDs while Johnson picked up 97 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most receiving yards Johnson has posted since back in September of 2024.

Daphne's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Haile Moorer was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks herself.

Daphne has already played their next contest, a 40-6 win against Theodore on the 26th. Saraland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
