Baseball Recap: Clinton Comes Up Short

The matchup between Clinton and Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Saturday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Maroons came up short against the Chiefs, falling 16-4. It was the first time this season that the Maroons let down their fans at home.

Colton Walker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Josh Bass, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Clinton suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-5. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will welcome Warrensburg-Latham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will be playing at home against Fieldcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight.
