Preview: Greenville Red Raiders vs. Greer Yellow Jackets
Greenville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Greer Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last five matchups.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greenville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 63-7 victory over South Aiken. The result was nothing new for Greenville, who have now won six games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Greenville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rashad Robinson, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Kylar Zimmerman, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Greer had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over Indian Land. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Greer was the better team in the second half.
Greenville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Greer, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 6-5 record.
Greenville strolled past Greer when the teams last played back in October of 2021 by a score of 42-28. Will Greenville repeat their success, or does Greer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
