Basketball Recap: Thunderbird Adventist Academy's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Thunderbird Adventist Academy won the last time they faced Arrowhead Christian Academy, and Patrick Riffel did his part to make sure it happened again. Thunderbird Adventist Academy enjoyed a cozy 62-47 win over the Arrowhead Christian Academy Eagles on Tuesday thanks in part to Riffel, who went 13 for 19 on his way to 31 points. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high.

Aziel Perez was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 15 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Despite the defeat, Arrowhead Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cole Benton went 7 for 8 on his way to 19 points and five boards. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Benton. Another player making a difference was Tristin McLaughlin, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Thunderbird Adventist Academy, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. As for Arrowhead Christian Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy will face off against Wickenburg Christian Academy at 8:20 p.m. on January 21st. Thunderbird Adventist Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
