Softball Recap: St. Edward Takes a Loss

St. Edward's last matchup with Geneva could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Green Wave lost 19-4 to the Vikings. The Green Wave have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Alaina Nolan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Sarah Gurley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Geneva, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-16.

St. Edward and Geneva could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Green Wave (ranked 366th) will meet Bishop McNamara (ranked 144th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Geneva will face off against Glenbard North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (333 vs. 25).
