Softball Recap: Arendell Parrott Academy Takes a Loss

Arendell Parrott Academy had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it seven. They lost 16-1 to Faith Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Arendell Parrott Academy of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Faith Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Faith Christian's part, Payton Whitley and Peyton Hagans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Whitley pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hagans tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Whitley went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hagans got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Hagans a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abby Vann was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kate Camp also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arendell Parrott Academy will take on Harrells Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Faith Christian, they will challenge Rocky Mount Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
