Basketball Recap: Pearl-Cohn Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Pearl-Cohn waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 victory over the White House-Heritage Patriots. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firebirds also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2015.

Pearl-Cohn was led to victory by Dyna'C Davis and Emoni Haynes-Overton. Davis went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points, while Haynes-Overton posted eight points and five steals. Davis' evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Valencia Hailey, who put up ten points.

Pearl-Cohn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Pearl-Cohn pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for White House-Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Looking ahead, Pearl-Cohn will be playing at home against Stem Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. White House-Heritage has already played their next match (against Hendersonville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
