Softball Recap: Bacon Academy Takes a Loss

Bacon Academy was the 7-6 winner over Stonington when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats fell 5-1 to the Bears on Wednesday. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riley Stolzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Bacon Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Stonington, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Bacon Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fitch at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bobcats 3.6, the Falcons 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Stonington, they will head out on the road to take on Plainfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
