Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. East Union Lancers

For the second straight game, Patterson will face off against East Union. Patterson will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Union at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Patterson has four straight wins, East Union has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Patterson hadn't beaten East Union on the road since March 20, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. Patterson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over East Union.

Cole Medina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Patterson let Caden Lozano and Guy Allard run wild. Lozano scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Allard scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Allard posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Patterson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

East Union now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Patterson, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Patterson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
