Volleyball Preview: Yarmouth Clippers vs. Scarborough Red Storm

Yarmouth and Scarborough are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Yarmouth Clippers have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome the Scarborough Red Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Yarmouth is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Cape Elizabeth, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Yarmouth was ranked third). Yarmouth narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cape Elizabeth 3-2.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Yarmouth who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 16-25, 15-8.

Among those leading the charge was Madi Beaudoin, who had 12 digs.

Yarmouth was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Scarborough sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Deering on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Storm.
