It's playoff time, and Carson had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Birmingham Patriots with a sharp 16-5 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Giselle Pantoja tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Birmingham, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Looking ahead, Carson will take on San Pedro at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colts 2.6, the Pirates 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Birmingham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
