Basketball Recap: East Duplin Triumphs

Clinton came into Monday's game looking for another win against East Duplin, but Calvin Harper wouldn't allow it. The East Duplin Panthers walked away with a 50-38 victory over the Clinton Dark Horses on Monday thanks in part to Harper, who went 7 for 16 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Clinton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylen Moore, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Bass, who posted nine points.

East Duplin's record now sits at 9-5. As for Clinton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

East Duplin will face off against Kinston at 8:00 p.m. on January 28th. One thing working in Kinston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Clinton has already played their next contest (against St. Pauls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
