League recap: Rustburg scores huge upset over Brookville

3A Conference 30 recap October 8, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rustburg, who defeated 87th ranked Brookville, 35-10.

Heritage extended the longest winning streak in 3A Conference 30 this week by beating Jefferson Forest, 38-27. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Pioneers.

Tunstall's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Buckner threw for 75 and 1 touchdown and Teaun Carter had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Peyton Farrior contributed 94 yards. Dustin Kuczinski helped Tunstall's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.

Farrior provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Trojans bested Patrick County.

Carter was the best wideout in the league this week as Tunstall topped the Cougars. Carter tallied 1 reception for 35 yards. Kuczinski helped Tunstall's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.

Tunstall's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Buckner has thrown for 583 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Farrior has 14 catches for 171 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Heritage takes on the Devils. At the moment, the Pioneers are in first, while Rustburg is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Heritage takes on Jon Berlin's team. The Pioneers have allowed 103 points this season, while the Devils have given up 114.

Buddy Brown's team took down Patrick County 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Buckner ran for 18 yards during the win.
