Football Recap: Columbia Wildcats vs. Lewiston Bengals
Columbia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Lewiston Bengals by a score of 24-13.
Jackson Cheslak had a dynamite game, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
Columbia's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Troy Swain, Maxton Barnes, and Robert Demicell, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Lewiston's side was Swain, who picked up a sack, made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Lewiston, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Post Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
