Baseball Recap: Grace Prep Victorious

Grace Prep hadn't done well against Oakridge recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Owls 9-8. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 13-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jaxson Bryson and Landon Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Bryson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Jones got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Bryson a new career-high. Liam Jaime also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Grace Prep's win bumped their record up to 6-1-1.

Coming up, Grace Prep will head out on the road to take on Mansfield Homeschool at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Oakridge, they will be taking part in a tournament against Harvest Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
