Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roanoke Rapids). They never let the Rocky Mount Gryphons get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Monday. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Morgan Beam and Kyla Odom did most of the damage at the plate: Beam went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Odom got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Beam a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brishawna Crumel, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Roanoke Rapids pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Rocky Mount, they are on a 36-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.
