Baseball Game Preview: Inland Lakes Bulldogs vs. Gaylord Blue Devils

The Inland Lakes Bulldogs will face off against the Gaylord Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gaylord will be up against a hot Inland Lakes team: the squad just extended their winning streak to eight. The Bulldogs didn't even let Central Lake on the board on Monday, marking the Bulldogs' second-straight 15-0 shutout.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Gaylord and Alpena meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Collin Piehl was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lucas Green, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Gaylord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Inland Lakes picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 9-3. As for Gaylord, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
