Baseball Game Preview: Scott City Rams vs. Kelly Hawks

Scott City is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Kelly Hawks at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Scott City's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last 12 games.

Scott City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Leopold. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Kelly fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Saxony Lutheran on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the eighth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Kelly saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Oesch, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Jacob Dannenmueller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kelly dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Scott City, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
