Basketball Recap: Clay City Eels vs. Loogootee Lions
Clay City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 41-34 to the Loogootee Lions. The Eels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Clay City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Rhienhart dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Rhienhart a new career-high in steals (six). Abigale Shearer was another key player, putting up eight points.
Loogootee found their leader in sophomore Alaina Diamond, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Loogootee is 6-3 when Diamond posts ten or more rebounds, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Waggner, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.
Clay City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Loogootee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.
Clay City will venture away from home to take on Greencastle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loogootee, they will square off against Wood Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
