Basketball Recap: State Line Christian vs. Faith Christian
State Line Christian proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 22) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over Faith Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for State Line Christian.
State Line Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Worley led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Worley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Knapp, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Several Faith Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mark Kincer, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Kincer pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jack Coplen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
State Line Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Faith Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. State Line Christian will take on the at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Lakecrest Baptist is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Faith Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Faith Baptist focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday.
