Volleyball Game Preview: Curtis Vikings vs. Puyallup Vikings

Curtis has won five straight games at home, while Puyallup has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Tuesday, Curtis got the win against Yelm by a conclusive 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Curtis was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-9, 25-15.

Curtis relied on the efforts of Elaina Duong, who had 11 digs and two assists, and Noel Nofo, who had three digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Nofo a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Puyallup made easy work of Bonney Lake on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Puyallup's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Curtis, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Curtis has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Puyallup struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Curtis' way against Puyallup when the teams last played back in September, as Curtis made off with a 3-0 win. Does Curtis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Puyallup turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
