After flying high against the Community Trojans on Friday, the Mark Twain Tigers came back down to earth. Mark Twain was the victim of a rough 65-43 loss at the hands of Louisiana on Monday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mark Twain in their matchups with Louisiana: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Mark Twain still got an impressive performance from Sam Northcutt, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 10 rebounds. Northcutt scored a full 60.5% of Mark Twain's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Quin Eckler was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals.
It was another big night for Wyatt Martin, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds for Louisiana. The matchup was Martin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Lumley, who scored 19 points.
Mark Twain's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Louisiana, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Mark Twain's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marion County at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Marion County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mark Twain in Missouri (Marion County is ranked 111th, while Mark Twain is ranked 353rd). As for Louisiana, they will square off against Palmyra at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
